Jewelry & Metal Work

My jewelry and metal work takes inspiration from two main themes. Majority is predominantly inspired by nature and life. Growing up in the Adirondacks and always viewing nature as a place of solace, beauty and perfect imperfections has led to an immense respect for what nature represents and what it can mean to every person. I choose to portray nature because it is provides solace and peace to my soul. The particular flowers and vines I choose to create are based on whether they reflect a certain memory, concept, event or relate to a person from my  life. As I see it, nature parallels the human life, not just from the standpoint of it follows the circle of life, but it can be imperfect, chaotic, destructive and unruly, but it is incredibly beautiful despite everything it can be.  It represents much of what we feel as humans. I enjoy creating work that clearly reflects images from nature that can evoke emotions of beauty, but also tranquility.

My second inspiration is combining metal with fibers, in both mixed media and emulating techniques. Combining my passions for both jewelry and fibers creates an opportunity for hybrid pieces that are entirely unique and beautiful. Tatting, weaving, crocheting and knitting are all techniques that I use to either create or inspire works in metal. Fabricating jewelry using these methods or emulating these methods leads to an elegant dichotomy between the two media that simultaneously reflects my other inspiration in the organic and delicate forms they take on.
